The Dredges of the Tea Party

One horrible thing that tea lovers like me have had to deal with in 2009 was a bunch of idiots having “tea parties” and teabagging each other because they are crybaby losers. It’s almost enough to make me spit out my earl grey in disgust and break out the lattes. Not really, as I don’t drink earl grey, it’s all about the fancy smoky black leaf Sudanese blend I got from the tea store that closed recently, but regardless, the Tea Party Movement is a fractured mess of astroturfing, grassroots snakes, GOP pandering, and lobbyist takeovers.

There is a lot of in-fighting and rival groups within the teabaggers. HuffPost has a good overview of the various major players. One such player is the Tea Party Express, who you might remember as the dingbats on the bus who were traveling the nation and hanging out in Wal-Mart parking lots so angry old white people could yell. Now the Tea Party Express have done the grassroots thing and spent $1600 for dinner for 6. That’s your Real Patriots right there, ripping off their fellow man for steak that better be panda for that price. They’ve also managed to give almost half of the $2 million they raised this year($857,000) to consulting firm Russo Marsh or people connected to it. So dig deep, teabaggers, consulting firms need your moolah to buy more panda steaks! BTW, Grassfire.org help sponsors the Tea Party Express, and they employ the Shirley & Banister Public Affairs PR firm as well as front the astroturf group Resistnet.com, who you may have heard of on TarsTarkas.NET at some point…

I know we review bad movies on TarsTarkas.NET, but I haven’t found a way to watch it without giving them money yet.

Just wait until the Alice in Wonderland film gets released and the teabaggers hijack the Mad Hatter images like they’ve hijack the Joker Obama photoshop. Ah, teabaggers, so predictable, so baggable…

Wingnut Web – H1N1 is starting to reduce our population Edition

Resistnet produces so many terrible posts, that I have a huge archive of posts from them that I haven’t even uploaded to the internet. They are still sitting on Resistnet (for the most part), but as everything gets lost in the constant noise of old people copy/pasting the same article from WND/CFP 6000 times (including all the ads and meta data on the site) and arguing about whether Obama will destroy America this week or wait until the weekend. Obama sure is lazy on his destroying America, it’s almost been a year and America isn’t destroyed!

Glenn Beck announced his “Plan” – aka sell a bunch of books to gullible teabaggers who will buy anything that promises to save them from Commie Obama Usurpers – and did so at a rally at a Florida retirement home. He also did so without contacting Grassfire.org/Resistnet.com, who Glenn Beck’s 9-12 Project had been coordinating a march on DC on 9-11-10. Instead, Glenn Beck randomly announces a march on DC on 8-28-10! Yes, two weeks earlier, and on the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s I Have a Dream Speech. Prepare for your dream to be co-opted by a jerkoff using the date to sell his crappy book to a bunch of racists, Dr. King! Yes, the whole thing is to support Beck’s upcoming book, The Plan, which has a 100 year plan for America. I am sure the book will be horrible, but not as horrible as Palin’s book. But it will sell a bajillion copies, thanks to the teabagging rallies across the USA. Too bad for Resistnet, though, what with them being caught holding the bag on Beck’s other rally he summarily dropped. I am sure the reaction will not be over the top…

Glenn Beck to announce ‘big plan’ for 2010

Glenn Beck, the controversial Fox News television host, is planning on becoming more active in the populist conservative movement he spawned, according to sources familiar with his thinking.

At a rally Saturday at a massive retirement community in central Florida, Beck is planning to unveil what he has billed as a “big plan” for 2010, which is expected to involve the 9.12 Project, the group he started earlier this year and named for the day after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, when he says the nation was unified.

“Coming this January, my whole approach changes on this program,” he hinted cryptically on his Wednesday show. “This next year is going to be critical and I think it’s going to change and I think we are going to set it right, at least set our course right. And if that means the Democrats or the Republicans are destroyed along the way, well, good. Good.”

Beck’s Saturday rally, which is set for 3 p.m. will be broadcast live on Fox, and is timed to coincide with the kickoff of a tour promoting his new book, “Arguing with Idiots.”

The 2010 march – called the “We the People Restore Our Constitution March, Rally and 9/11 Memorial” – is planned for Washington’s National Mall. Its other co-sponsor is an online activism group called ResistNet.com.

ResistNet’s Darla Dawald credited Beck with setting in motion the march, but said he’s not involved in its planning. “Glenn doesn’t want it to be about him – always about the people,” Dawald, who is leading march planning for ResistNet, wrote in an email. “He wanted the 9.12 Project people (grassroots) to be involved and step forward – not him.”

Christine Drawdy, a Florida event promoter involved in the Tea Party and 912 movements who is listed as the travel coordinator for the 2010 march, said the permit for the march is in the name of The 9.12 Project’s administrator, Yvonne Donnelly.

Though Drawdy stressed that Beck “is not the leader of” the 912 movement, she added “all he has to do is say something and they’ll jump.”

ResistNet’s Dawald said she was asked to join the march planning effort by Donnelly, who works with Beck on the 9.12 Project website but did not respond to an email message.

Wingnut Web – cONGRESS IS COMPLICITE? Edition

Wingnut Web has another batch of Resistnet.com stuff from a few weeks ago that I was too lazy to up, but here it is, better late than never. We got chat logs, Nazi accusations, crazy lawsuits, the driving away of sane members, and calls for genocide. Remember, this is the peaceful resistance. Peacefully killing everyone!

But, truthfully, Resistnet is starting to get boring. Membership has dropped off, they are barely getting any new blood, and most of the regulars have wandered off or been chased away by the real crazies. It isn’t a lack of crazy posters, but a lack of activity. When there is activity, it is still crazy (in fact, it is more crazy than before) but the rate of new posts have slacked off considerably. I’d like to think it is entirely due to Wingnut Web, so I declare TarsTarkas.NET Victory! I guess we’ll go over to FreeRepublic.com from now on… Fresh meat!
