Thai Pulp covers – Insee Daeng and more

[adrotate banner=”1″]Here are a bunch of Thai pulp covers from various sources collected while looking for Insee Daeng information. Not sure if it they were comics or books or a mix of both. Some of them, especially the last two, are written stories. There is also a bonus Captain America cover, because, why the hell not? You can see elements from some of these stories that made it into Insee Thong.

Kick Ass Heroes

[adrotate banner=”1″]What might be a Kick-Ass knockoff is instead just another Four Movie Pack DVD, except this four Movie pack DVD has some odd movies in it…

Green Inferno is a boring cannibal jungle adventure, IIRC. (Yes, I’m the kind of guy who finds cannibal adventures boring!) The other three are..

RoboVampire! Once again with a ridiculous cartoon Robocopish guy on the cover!

Fantastic Argoman! – Probably best reviewed in this video

and Red Eagle! I had no idea that Red Eagle was even released in the west, but you can now buy it on a crappy 4-pack DVD! I have no idea if it is dubbed or subbed, as the original Red Eagle is in Thai. All the Red Eagle photos are of the movie Gold Eagle aka Insee Thong, the last Red Eagle film.

Images ganked from the SomethingAwful forums

Red Eagle (Insee Daeng) update has some photos!

[adrotate banner=”1″]Insee Daeng is Thai super hero Red Eagle, and there were at least three films starring Thai movie legend Mitr Chaibancha (who died filming the final scene of Insee Thong). There have been a few half-hearted attempts to redo the films since (according to my searches at eThaicd) and several other hero films with looks inspired by the Red Eagle films. And then a big budget (for Thailand) update directed by Wisit Sasanatieng and starring Ananda Everingham was announced, only recently there released a few photos of the film. Or at least art of the film.

There is a great review of Insee Thong (Gold Eagle) by Todd of 4DK fame on Teleport-City. Maybe I should get off my lazy butt and watch my vcd copies of the two entries I own.
