I haven’t been this miserable since I ran away with that old guy and had to pretend I was kidnapped. I mean, since I was kidnapped!


[adrotate banner=”7″]I take back my statement last week about Lifetime’s lack of confidence in The Wrong Girl, because this week the links for Kidnapped: The Hannah Anderson Story are also broken! This is especially weird since Lifetime went the extra distance to provide more thank just a low-rez trailer, even including behind the scenes stuff! Not that you can get there from the main MyLifetime.com/movies site, mind you…

Based on a true story. On the afternoon of August 3, 2013, 16-year-old Hannah Anderson was abducted after finishing cheerleading practice in a San Diego suburb. When the bodies of her mother and brother were found in the burned home of family friend James DiMaggio later that day, an AMBER Alert was issued, and a frantic multi-state manhunt for Hannah began. For a week she was kept prisoner by the increasingly unstable DiMaggio as they made their way across the state. One week later, the two were found in Idaho and DiMaggio was killed in a shootout with FBI agents, leaving Hannah as the sole survivor. As the dust settled, questions began to emerge about the nature of the relationship between Hannah and her kidnapper. Was Hannah purely a victim of a depraved adult, or is it possible she was more complicit in the tragic events?

Ah, kidnapping conspiracy theories. Every internet commenter will feel justified now!

Kidnapped: The Hannah Anderson Story stars Scott Patterson (Little Big League), Jessica Amlee (Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus 3-D), Brian McNamara (I Know Who Killed Me), Jay Pickett (Guts and Glory: The Rise and Fall of Oliver North), Susie Castillo (Holiday Engagement), and Tim Abell (Snow White: A Deadly Summer ) It’s directed by Peter Sullivan (Christmas Under Wraps, High School Possession), who also wrote the story along with Jeffrey Schenck (Chupacabra vs. the Alamo) and Hanz Wasserburger (A Novel Romance), the latter also doing the screenplay.

Wait, is this A Novel Romance or the latest Lifetime movie, Library Creeper???

[adrotate banner=”7″]With A Novel Romance, we run deep into the world of romance book writers and bloggers, a world filled with drama and suspense. I fully admit that I follow several romance book blogs (Dear Author, Smart Bitches, even The Cultural Gutter’s romance section). I don’t even read romance books (except a few Urban Fantasy books that cross over), but reading about romance books is addicting. So watching movies about romance books is also of interest to me, even if it follows the standard “someone’s lying about who they are” plot, complete with someone who has given up on love. And there is a book reviewing journalist, which it will be hilarious if she does that as a full time job and not as a write for hire deal as media companies cut content generators in favor of trying to get people to write for free. Not that I’m going to start a rant about that, but 2014 was RIP several awesome sites and lots of people got fired from other places, making the good content out there even more harder to find. That’s pretty much why I read mostly blogs now, as that’s where the good writers are.

Anyway, about the movie:

Romance novelist Liam Bradley (Dylan Bruce) has already found massive success with three books written under the pen name Gabriel August, but he’s mysteriously unknown to his legions of readers. With his first book written as a way to heal after a broken relationship, Liam has slowly become disheartened with writing strictly for romantic fantasy, something evident to a sweet, but honest, journalist who reviews books, Sophie Atkinson (Amy Acker), whom he meets by chance on a plane. The two begin a tentative relationship in Sophie’s home town of Portland, Maine, where Liam has come to find inspiration for his newest entry.

Liam’s agent puts him on the spot with a long-planned reveal of Gabriel August’s true identity, but Sophie doesn’t know of his public persona. The longer Liam avoids telling her the truth, the deeper a hole he digs for himself. Will their romance survive once his true identity comes to light?

A Novel Romance stars Amy Acker (Person of Interest) as Sophie Atkinson, Dylan Bruce (Orphan Black) as Liam Bradley, Camille Mitchell (Smallville) as Jackie Billick, Tammy Gillis (Blood Brothers: Reign of Terror) as Nina Gibson, Emily Tennant (Battle of the Bulbs) as Tabitha Weeks, Casey Manderson (Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever) as Drew Clayton, Milo Shandel (Zapped) as Phil Berkman, Chris Shields as Ted Gordon, and Charles S. Dutton (Roc) as Michael Harris.

It’s directed by Mark Griffiths, who directed Hardbodies 1 and 2, the Au Pair trilogy (Yes, it’s a trilogy now with Au Pair 3: Adventure in Paradise!) The story is by Beverly Nuako (her first film) and Hanz Wasserburger (High School Possession), and Wasserburger did the teleplay.

A Novel Romance premieres Saturday, January 10th on Hallmark Channel!

High School Possession Lifetime

I was totally just possessed when I harassed those attractive diminutive perjurers! I’d never do anything like that in now.


[adrotate banner=”7″]Just when you thought Lifetime had run out of things to warn teens and parents about, Lifetime ups the ante! There is teen pregnancy, rainbow parties, evil grandmas, men, friends, new girls at school, being 17, men, the internet, choking, religious men, and men. And now, teenage exorcisms! Yes, High School Possession (aka High School Exorcism) will scare the demons out of your daughter or son if they ever think about hanging around with that exorcism clique. We all had them in high school, wandering the halls throwing holy water on people, speaking in tongues, getting expelled by Principal Satan. Good times.

Lauren is your average high school student. Intelligent and gifted, she’s the student editor of the school newspaper, and as part of her senior year project, she’s doing an expose on each of the school cliques. Her next assignment is to follow Olivia and her church youth group known as “The Chosen”. One night after interviewing them, Lauren stumbles onto The Chosen performing an exorcism on a girl led by Reverend Young. Lauren is horrified but intrigued so she begins to investigate and it seems to have really helped the girl. Meanwhile, Lauren’s best friend Chloe is having trouble and spiraling out of control at home and at school. Her mother has taken her to countless doctors and none of them can clearly diagnose her. The only option remaining is for Chloe to be hospitalized. Lauren realizes that Chloe might be possessed and needs an exorcism. But when Reverend Young refuses to help them Lauren and The Chosen decide to take matters into their own hands…except not all of the girls may be doing this to save Chloe and when it becomes evident that Olivia is performing the ritual to hurt her it’s up to Lauren to truly save Chloe.

High School Possession has a strong as heck cast: Janel Parrish (Pretty Little Liars, Bratz), Jennifer Stone (Wizards of Waverly Place), Ione Skye (Say Anything…), Kelly Hu (Scorpion King), Shanley Caswell (Detention), and Bailey Anne Borders (Raze). More than enough to get my attention!

It’s directed by Peter Sullivan (Christmas Twister) and written by Hanz Wasserburger (also Christmas Twister), both of which have pedigrees in made-for-tv holiday movies, so that’s the only worrying part. Unless you think of this as a made-for-tv Halloween movie, then it sounds better!

Either way, this looks cool, so I am programming the DVR. High School Possession premieres Saturday, October 25th on Lifetime!
