Killing Daddy never felt so good, on Lifetime!

Killing Daddy Lifetime

Gee, which one could possibly be the evil one?

Revenge is a dish best served crazy with Lifetime’s latest original movie, Killing Daddy! A daughter is out to destroy her family after blaming her dad for her mom’s suicide, but family secrets and revenge make a perfect cocktail of Lifetime movie fun. Just from the sample pictures of Cassie Ross dressed up all dark and evil looking, or made up to look like a psych ward patient, you can expect a fun ride!

Cassie Ross is scarred by the suicide of her mother, which occurred when Cassie was a child. She is convinced that her father was to blame for her mother’s death. Cassie’s older sister, Laura, has always sided with their father, so for years Cassie has been estranged from her family. When Cassie discovers that her father has had a debilitating stroke, she sees it as the perfect opportunity to return home and seek justice for her mother. Confiding in her mute and helpless father her plans to destroy her sister and stepmother and ultimately kill him, Cassie sets out on her path to destroy her broken family and take all of their riches. But Cassie’s revenge won’t come as easy as she thinks as hidden truths about her family may derail her entire plan.

Killing Daddy stars Elizabeth Gillies, Cynthia Stevenson, and William Moses. Director Curtis Crawford is a Lifetime vet having helmed four similarly titled films: The Boy She Met Online, The Wife He Met Online, The Husband She Met Online, and The Girl He Met Online. He also worked on the Teddy Ruxpin cartoon. Writer Trent Haaga wrote Heebie Jeebies.

Killing Daddy airs July 5th on Lifetime!

Stephen King full dark no stars

Stephen King’s Big Driver pulls in to Lifetime!

Word via DreadCentral that Lifetime has announced another high-profile original movie in production, this time an adaptation of a Stephen King novella called Big Driver (published in Full Dark, No Stars). Big Driver will star Maria Bello, Olympia Dukakis, Joan Jett, and Will Harris. It will be directed by Mikael Salomon, who has directed several Lifetime films: Drew Peterson: Untouchable, Blue Lagoon: The Awakening, and Natalee Holloway. The Big Driver novella will be adapted by Richard Christian Matheson, also a Lifetime vet (Happy Face Killer), but most importantly he cowrote the classic film Three O’Clock High!

The plot:

In Big Driver, Tess Thorne (Bello), a famous and revered mystery and thriller writer, faces a long drive home following a book signing engagement. Prompted to take a shortcut at the suggestion of the event’s planner, Ramona, Tess sets out to return to her house. But while driving on a lonely stretch of New England road, her tire blows out, leaving her stranded. Relieved when another driver (Harris) stops and offers assistance, Tess quickly discovers her savior is actually her assailant, a serial killer who repeatedly assaults her. Left for dead in a drainage pipe to rot with the bodies of his other victims, Tess escapes and makes her way safely home. With her fragile mind beginning to unravel, she is determined to find her rapist and seek revenge, as payback is the only thing holding her together. Dukakis will portray Doreen, while Jett will play Betsy Neal.

This is perfect Lifetime classic schlock. This will make an amazing tv movie that will be everything Lifetime fans have come to expect from the channel for their original films. At the rate they keep announcing amazing new film productions, they’ll never run out of movies. They are going to have to show more than one new one a week. At this point, Lifetime is my favorite tv channel!

The full press release:

From best-selling author and master of suspense Stephen King, comes the Lifetime Original Movie Big Driver, starring Golden Globe nominee Maria Bello (pictured; A History of Violence), Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis (Sex & Violence, Steel Magnolias), Grammy nominee Joan Jett, and Will Harris (Sky High).

Set to premiere this fall, Big Driver was first published as a novella within King’s critically-acclaimed collection Full Dark, No Stars and tells the story of a young novelist hell-bent on revenge after the core of her psyche is broken following a brutal crime. The film marks Lifetime’s first collaboration with America’s foremost horror authority and begins production in Halifax, Nova Scotia, this summer.

Saved by the Bell Lifetime

Lifetime wins with The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story!

Saved by the Bell Lifetime

Just when you thought you were doomed to fail, you will find yourself saved by the bell again, as Lifetime is bringing us The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story! Lifetime has secured the Iron Throne of schlock tv movies, and now is just showing off with this latest announcement!

The film will feature the six most famous cast members, thus skipping the whole Good Morning, Miss Bliss year and jumping right into everything we know and love whenever “Real 90s kids” trends on Twitter. The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story was cast by the same casting director who cast the original series, Robin Lippin. The actors are:

Dylan Everett as Mark-Paul Gosselaar
Sam Kindseth as Dustin Diamond
Julian Works as Mario Lopez
Alyssa Lynch as Tiffani-Amber Thiessen
Tiera Skovbye as Elizabeth Berkley
Taylor Russell McKenzie as Lark Voorhies

They will deal with the pressure of being squeaky clean role models while also having drug-fueled sex orgies (according to Dustin Diamond’s autobiography) If they do even 10% of the things on this list (I know that Mario Lopez rapist story did make American tabloid tv shows because I remember it airing), the film will be amazing and awesome. And maybe it will lead to Saved by the Bell: The New New Class!

Hopefully they do nice parallels to actual episodes, including Jessie being addicted to caffeine pills and Screech dating Tori Spelling. The public will demand that! After all, how are we going to get more gifs for Tumblr if they fail to deliver?

The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story premieres September 1st on Lifetime, and damn right I’ll be watching!

Zendaya

Zendaya IS Aaliyah on Lifetime!

Stay with me folks, because I’m quoting a site called Necole Bitchie! It’s one of those celebrity gossip sites like Perez Hilton, except it isn’t Perez Hilton, so it’s automatically 10% better. But the gist of it is Zendaya will be playing Aaliyah in a biopic from Lifetime! This is amazing news in Lifetime biopic circles! If you aren’t familiar with Zendaya, she’s the singular-named Disney kid starring in the upcoming original movie Zapped, as well as a lead role on the series Shake It Up. This news has been confirmed by Indiewire and Lifetime thanks to the power of an emergency press release to get ahead of the internet news cycle:

Before Beyonce and before Rihanna, self-proclaimed “street but sweet” Aaliyah was poised to become a global icon with top-selling albums, a hot movie career and an adoring fan base. But behind the spotlight, Brooklyn-born, Detroit-raised Aaliyah Dana Haughton struggled to succeed in a tough business while staying grounded in the midst of her growing celebrity. The film follows the beautiful and talented performer’s inspirational journey, from her debut on “Star Search” at the age of ten to the challenges she faced during her rise to become the Princess of R&B. On August 25, 2001, at the height of her popularity, her life was tragically cut short when a plane carrying the singer and some of her video crew crashed after takeoff from a Bahamian runway. Although just 22-years-old at the time of her death, Aaliyah continues to lead a legacy as Billboard’s tenth most famous R&B artist of the past 25 years and one of the recording industry’s most successful artists in history.

The film will be based on the book Aaliyah: More Than a Woman by Christopher Farley, and currently has the working title Aaliyah: Princess of R&B. I really expect that to change, because, blech!

Lifetime is getting way into the dead singer biopic market, because they also got that Whitney Houston biopic in the works, even though certain relatives are trying to sue it out of existence! The movie is still going ahead with Yaya DaCosta now cast as Whitney Houston!

Grumpy Cat Lifetime Christmas

Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever – a live-action Grumpy Cat movie on Lifetime!

Grumpy Cat Lifetime Christmas

In deformed cats getting exploited by their owners news, Grumpy Cat will be getting a Lifetime Christmas movie where the cat will talk and other internet memes will stop on by for guest spots. Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever comes complete with a self-descriptive title, though the irony may be lost.

Grumpy Cat will talk, playing an ignored pet store pet (it couldn’t be a shelter pet, could it?) who talks to a 12-year-old girl. No one, not even Grumpy Cat’s voice, has been cast yet. Tim Hill and Jeff Morris will write the script for Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever. Hill previously did work on SpongeBob SquarePants and Action League Now!. So maybe the script won’t be that terrible. Maybe.

Lifetime is casting the voice of Grumpy for the live-action project, which will shoot this summer. The cable network said the movie, which (vp original movies Arturo) Interian describes as “a little Home Alone and a little Die Hard,” would also feature cameos from other famous Internet memes.

Grumpy Cat Die Hard. Right. Unless the other memes take the pet store hostage and Grumpy Cat murders them one by one, this sounds completely awful. Will Lil Bub show up? What about other deformed cats? Will a cat play a keyboard? Questions people will ask, that will only be answered this Christmas on Lifetime!

Thedeal was announced a year ago, though it’s obvious from the story the original intent was to get it to theaters. Lifetime has snatched it up, and is cementing itself as the leading source of schlocky exploitation film. Only Asylum is even close, and they’re one of Lifetime’s movie sources!

Expect more news on this as we approach the holidays, including trailers and stills and casting announcements and catnip possession scandals.

The Mentor Lifetime

The Mentor – Lifetime meets evil, and it’s a man!

The Mentor Lifetime

Lifetime is taking a break from novel adaptations and play adaptations and killer internet tales to go old school, and by that I mean breaking out the evil evil men! The Mentor features an obsessed stalker coworker who acts as a mentor to his victim. Throw in a dead kid and a stressed marriage, and this is like a superflu version of a regular Lifetime film, multiple plots rolled into one! Hopefully it’s far more fun than Captain Trips…

The Mentor is yet another film written by Lifetime super-star Christine Conradt, who must be single-handedly keeping Lifetime in the movie business by the rate that she keeps pumping out scripts! Director Anthony Lefresne has directed Another Man’s Wife and the upcoming Guilty at 17 (another in the at 17 series!)

Battlestar Galactica alum Aaron Douglas plays the stalker/mentor Paul Allenham, Jes Macallan plays the woman who gets an awful coworker, and Nic Bishop plays her estranged husband.

For some reason there isn’t much about this film at all on Lifetime’s site, they are barely acknowledging it’s a new film and have skipped on to promoting Outlaw Prophet: Warren Jeffs, and the only promo shot is an image so bad even Aaron Douglas has made fun of it! But TarsTarkas.NET is on the case, and that shot is the one at the top of this article!

Elizabeth May tries to put the loss of her eight-year-old daughter behind her by going back to teaching. Under the stress of the tragedy her husband Brian May has moved out while Elizabeth is desperate to save her marriage and return to a life of normalcy. In her new job she is assigned a mentor, Paul Allenham, who is hiding a deep dark violent past. Paul has an immediate and unsettling attraction to Elizabeth; he will do anything to secure her love.

The Mentor premieres June 14th on Lifetime!
