Tom Yum Goong 2 trailers and posters

Media for the upcoming Tom Yum Goong 2 has begun appearing online. First up was a first trailer, followed by the above-embedded second teaser. In addition, the Tom Yum Goong 2 facebook page has been posting character posters, which are posted below. There are posters for Tony Jaa as Kham, Jija Yanin as Pingping (who uses flying needles), Petchai Wongkamlao as Sgt. Mark, Ying Ratha as No. 20, RZA as Mr. LC, and Marrese Crump as No. II. The stunts look amazing, and I hope this troubled production pulls together and turns into something magical. Really pulling for this one.

The Kick stunt trailer

The Kick (that Korean/Thai co-production we’ve devoted a few posts about) has a stunt trailer up, and it’s got some butt-kicking action. And Jija Yanin finally shows up in some of the media, which is good, and she’s kicking people, which is good. Some of the stunts are awesome, so I can’t wait for this one!

We’ll embed it when someone uploads it to YouTube. The plot again for those who missed it:

Moon is a Taekwondo master running an old Taekwondo gym in Bangkok. All five members of his family are also the masters of Taekwondo in different styles: his wife Yoon in cooking style, son Taeju in dancing style, daughter Taemi in soccer style, and the youngest Typhoon can break anything with his strong forehead.

Moon wants his children to be Taekwondo coaches to take over his gym in future. However, regardless of their father’s will, Taeju wants to be a famous pop singer and Taemi is only interested in her secret crush at school.

One day, Taekwon family encounters treasure robbers on the street by accident and happens to get caught into fight with them. With surprising martial art skills, TK family knocks down the robbers and takes back the stolen treasures. The head of the robbers Pom, who is notorious for many crimes, escapes alone and trembles with rage.

TK family becomes famous in public. But, They do not know that Pom is planning to get his revenge.

Posters and Images for Prachya Pinkaew's The Kick

The Kick is an upcoming Thai/Korean martial arts film from Prachya Pinkaew featuring Jija Yanin and a bunch of Korean martial artists (the K-Tigers), including taekwondo world champion Na Tae-joo. It sounds like it will have some fun scenes, beating up bad dudes and bad dudes plotting revenge against a whole family of martial artists.

Jakkalan = This Girl is Bad-Ass

Jeeja Yanin’s new film Jakkalan has been given the international title This Girl is Bad-Ass, showing they know the soul reason this thing’s gonna get exported overseas. But Jeeja is only a small part of the film, which is largely a comedy focusing on other characters. From the sound of it, the film is trying to be everything and ends up being nothing. Which is sort of sad. Will we still see it? Yes. Will we be disappointed? Probably. Will we learn our lesson? Nope. The name change also keeps us from making lots of jokes like “Jakkalan? Isn’t that what comes with the noodles at King of Thai?” and that’s probably best for everyone.

Wise Kwai has a review up that goes over what appears to be wrong with the film (a lot) and highlights most of Jeeja’s action scenes.

More Fighting Women from Thailand

There are several female-centric action vehicles coming out of Thailand in 2010. As TarsTarkas.NET is a big fan of female action films, this news made our day.

We got Ta Bang Marn, the next project from Ong Bak director Prachya Pinkaew. Ta Bang Marn is in production now and is slated for a 2010 release.

Twitch sez:

The new epic martial arts action adventure set in a land long forgotten in the Southeast Asian history. Prachya Pinkaew is back to direct his most ambitious project to date about a group of village girls who team up to protect the “special child” that will change the destiny of the region against all harm.

In addition to Ta Bang Marn, Prachya Pinkaew has another upcoming project with Jija Yanin, star of Chocolate and Raging Phoenix, and American Marrese Crump. There is currently no title. This one is slated to begin filming in 2010.

Twitch also sez:

American martial artist Marrese Crump has been confirmed to be in talks with action director Prachya Pinkaew to star in his next film. The news was announced through a video that was released on YouTube outlining not only Crump as starring, but Yanin ‘Jeeja’ Vismitananda as well.

We recently got a hold of Raging Phoenix and have put it in line to get watched and reviewed, so hopefully things will go quickly on that end. But life has a way of slowing things down.
