Chinese Sex in the City to be Gillian's comeback film

We get hit with a boatload of news in one story! First, they are making a Chinese Sex in the City film! Secondly, Gillian Chung will be making her return to movies after the Edison Chen scandal as one of the stars! Thirdly, she’ll be joined by Charlene Choi, the other half of the Cantopop duo The Twins! Fourthly, the other two girls are Yumiko Cheng Hei Yi and Joey Yung Cho Yee!

Yumiko Cheng is a former member of the group 3T and is now a solo artist. She occasionally exposes herself on live TV, making her perfect for this film.

None of the casts’ roles are known, so who knows who will be Carrie, Samantha, the other girl, or the other other girl.
There is also no word on who Mr. Big will be, but my money is NOT on Edison Chen.

SciFi Channel's name change to SyFy generating nothing but hate

Even we hate the new name for SciFi Channel, and so does the rest of the internet. BNET has a great roundup of just how hated the new name is on the internet. Lots of jokes about syphilis abound. SciFi Channel gets a lot of crap for canceling good shows, putting on terrible movies, and showing such SciFi staples as wrestling and Braveheart. How much of the hate is just general SciFi Channel hate, and how much is hate on SyFy? I am guessing it is 100% both!

Maximum Ride series getting filmed

Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke looks like she’ll be directing a movie based on the book series Maximum Ride, which is about bird kids that are chased by wolf people. Yeah. And the main character’s name is Maximum Ride, so there.
Wikipedia tells us: The plot follows the adventures of Maximum Ride (more commonly known as Max), a headstrong fourteen year-old, and her group of human-avian hybrids, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gazzy (Gasman), and Angel (otherwise known as the Flock), who have been the subjects of experiments leaving them 98% human and 2% avian. I guess 2% bird is enough to fly—IN STUPID LAND!

I can’t imagine this being any good at all, but that won’t stop Sony! Also note how it took two people to write three paragraphs about this story for the Hollywood Reporter.

Catherine Hardwicke is in talks with Sony’s Columbia Pictures to develop and direct a film adaptation of another young-adult fantasy series, “Maximum Ride.”

The five-volume series by James Patterson chronicles six teens, known as the Flock, who are genetically altered so that they are part human and part bird. Learning to fly, they escape the laboratory where they have been housed and are pursued by a pack of creatures called the Erasers that are part human and part wolf.

Don Payne (“Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”) is writing a screenplay.

MacGyver will return, call Patty and Selma

Yes, a Simpsons joke, because I can. MacGyver is joining the long list of tv shows being turned into movies. No word on if Richard Dean Anderson is being brought in to continue as MacGyver, but I doubt it. I smell reboot.

Raffaella De Laurentiis, daughter of veteran producer Dino De Laurentiis , is producing the movie through her Raffaella Prods. along with Martha De Laurentiis and series creator Lee Zlotoff. Dino De Laurentiis is executive producing.

No writer has been hired. The studio hopes to find a script that acknowledges the concept’s pop-culture profile yet still makes for a serious and fun adventure movie .

“We think we’re a stick of chewing gum , a paper clip and an A-list writer away from a global franchise,” said New Line’s Richard Brener.
