Battle Beasts toy review

TW2005 has posted a video review of That New Toy Smell that reviews the new Battle Beast toy from Minimates (created by Art Asylum and Diamond Select Toys), an alternate paint job having been given out at the recent toy show. It alieves a few of my criticisms that the toys might be too lego-ish and not Battle Beasts enough, but he also harps on the main concern I also have, the lack of the rub badges. Although cheesy, they helped define the Battle Beast toy line and the lack of rubs/symbols/orbs is a real let down. And that sword sucks! I will probably pick up a few of the toys to see how they are, but the review did make me more likely to pick up more of them than before. Though, currently, Gormiti seems more like the spiritual successor to Battle Beasts at the moment.

As a giant Battle Beasts nut, I will be keeping an eye on this line!

Mexican Bootleg Battle Beasts

Here are a bunch of Mexican Bootleg Battle Beasts that got posted recently on ebay. I won one of the auctions, but in the interest of cataloging all the bootlegs out there, I am posting all the pics for archival purposes. The bootlegs were castes as one unmovable piece (so the arms don’t move) and done in hard plastic (like army soldier toys) At this time, I think it is still unknown just how many Battle Beasts were bootlegged in Mexico. I am adding this to the Battle Beasts section on TarsTarkas.NET.

Battle Beasts are back??

As some of you know, I love Battle Beasts ever since I was a boy. The toyline gets almost no love and nobody remembers them. And now, they will probably be back. At the Comicon, the company that makes the Kubricks toys revealed they got the license and even put up a prototype of a gator! So I guess Battle Beasts will be back, even if it is in a weird form. Well, we did have Gormiti, which are like the spiritual successor of Battle Beasts.
