MEGA SHARK VS GIANT OCTOPUS poster

The official poster is up for The Asylum’s Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus! Starring Debbie Gibson and Lorenzo Lamas, the entire plot is:

The California coast is terrorized by two enormous prehistoric sea creatures as they battle each other for supremacy of the sea.

As long as we got monsters and not 89 and 1/2 minutes of non-monster fighting. Because that would suck.
Thanks to Avery!

Missing in Action unmissing for remake

Not another one! What is missing in action is original content at the box office!

“Missing in Action” rediscovered for update
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Joining the legions of remakes of ’80s action movies is a new take on ” Missing in Action ,” the Chuck Norris vehicle in which he blazes his guns throughout Southeast Asia , liberating prisoners of war .

This version, for MGM, will be updated, like most of the new action reboots including “Rambo,” to reflect contemporary realities. The movie will be set in the current Iraq war and involve an action hero on a mission in the Middle East .

….
The studio’s plan is to release the new film directly to home video rather than to theaters. In an interesting twist, though, the co-producer/co-financier of the project is World Wrestling Entertainment

The screenplay for “Missing in Action” is being written by Jeremy Passmore and Andre Fabrizio. Passmore also is writing “Red Dawn,” another updated reboot of an MGM title about an ’80s military threat.

Godzilla Delicious

Godzilla Commercials Part 1

Godzilla is known for two things: destroying cities and kicking monster butt. One thing Godzilla isn’t as well known for is selling out. Yes, even Godzilla has to eat, so he’ll endorse all sorts of wacky stuff. We call him the Krusty the Clown of the giant monster world. TarsTarkas.NET begins an overview of Godzilla and other giant monster commercials because only we are so crazy (or stupid!) to do so. The current site motto might be “Obsessively stupid about stupid films” but now it is “Obsessively stupid about stupid commercials”!

The commercials range from Godzilla cameos using stock footage to independent productions with new footage of Big G. They also range from terrible to awesome, so it will be hit or miss.

Honey Nut Cheerios –
I remember this one from Saturday mornings. Using footage from Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster among others, Godzilla is rampaging again, and only the delicious taste of Honey Nut Cheerios can satisfy him and make him go back into the sea. Highlights include Godzilla yelling “Delicious!” and the iconic “bowl being tossed down the gullet” scene as Honey feeds the beast.

Street Fighter the Debit Card as bad as Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li

So if you thought Kristen Kreuk pretending to be a lesbian while the guy from American Pie yells “Nash Out!” on the phone was terrible, just wait until you see the hidden fees associated with the new Visa Street Fighter Debit Card!
You’ll be hit with more fees than your character is hit by Fei Long’s infinite combo!
Fee page

To purchase the card, it’s $9.95. Then there’s a monthly fee of $4.95. If you want to put more money on the card, you have to pay the reload fee (a fee you would pay on any VISA cash card, including this one)–which is about $4.95 at participating retailers.

When you actually use the money on the card, you have to pay too, unless you only make signature based debit transactions…when you ask for credit after you swipe your card and sign for purchases. Otherwise, it’s another $0.25 when you put in your PIN. To get money from the ATM, it’s $1.50 (and maybe more if the ATM owner also charges you a fee).

You are charged if your card is declined or when you want to find out how much money is on the card. If the card is declined when you try to make a purchase or take money out at the ATM, it’s another $0.50.

You even get charged fees when you call customer service, $0.25 to call an automated line and $1.50 to speak with a representative.

What happens when there isn’t any money in your account, but the transaction went through? You’re on the hook for the amount spent and also $10 for every overdraft.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice the Movie

Yes, there is a live action The Sorcerer’s Apprentice movie coming out, starring Nicholas Cage, set in modern day New York City. Yep, the story of the guy who had his brooms do his chores that was in Fantasia. Modern day. Nic Cage. And Alfred Molina as an evil sorcerer. So we got Ghost Rider vs. Dr. Octopus here! Maybe if Nic Cage wears Mickey Mouse ears through the whole movie it will be cool. Jay Baruchel stars as Cage’s Apprentice, Teresa Palmer plays the Apprentice’s love interest, and Jon Turteltaub plays someone. No word on who plays the broom.
