The new review was posted a few days ago, Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2! We got Godzilla doing another Heisei joint, this time facing Mechagodzilla who is now built by humans to fight Godzilla. Rodan shows up because Rodan does stuff like that, and we get the introduction of Babygodzilla, who is terrible and I hate. Complete with detailed synopsis, humor, and a movie clip of the action. Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 2 is not one of my favorite movies in the Heisei series. This is due to several factors, but largely because I hate Babygodzilla. I am a big fan of Minya, but Babygodzilla is just annoying. He fills me with disgust. Parts of this film are pretty great, but besides annoyance at the offspring, other problems creep up. Rodan is pretty much wasted in his only Heisei appearance. He does little more than show up, get beat up, and then die. Twice. The music is also odd, partially because it is inspired by King Kong Escapes and not a Godzilla film. And let’s just not go into how annoying it is to have multiple films with the same title!
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 2 was released dubbed on VHS years after its release in Japan, it was so delayed that they changed the sprites in a Godzilla video game from the new Mechagodzilla to the older 1974 one because America didn’t even know about this new one. I guess the USA just can’t handle updated robots.

Hu Jun as Da Chun – Starting out as a human cop, Da Chun gets turned into a cyborg and has to learn how to be a robot.
Alex Fong as K-1 De Ming – A 100% robot
Sun Li as Su Mei – female cop who is involved with robot Da Chun
Ronald Cheng as Xiao Jiang – A human who is obsessed with robots
Wu Jing as K-88 Chen Long – another robot who has a fight with a Bruce Lee robot in the film.
Gan Wei as Su Qing – younger sister of Su Mei, a human with scraggly hair.

In 2046, technological advancements keep improving human lives, as well as renewing their desires. So, robots, created to serve man, are born.
The first generation AI android, K-1 (Alex Fong), has just been invented secretly at Tian An Science Lab, with the aim of carrying out dangerous tasks for the police, to safeguard the human law enforcers against injuries and deaths. To test its functionality, commissioner Lin Xiang stations him at a remote town for on job training, putting him under the charge of the local sheriff Xu Da Chun (Hu Jun), with his actual identity a closely guarded secret.
K-1 joins the police force under the assumed name De Ming, immediately cracking various cases effortlessly. With perfect socialising routines, De Ming becomes idolised by the townsfolk in no time, while female cop Su Mei (Sun Li) falls head over heels for him.

De Ming and Xu Da Chun are assigned to apprehend a runaway robot K-88 (Wu Jing), which is suspected to have errant AI. After a mind-blowing hi-tech battle involving aerial, underground chases and exchanges, as well as 72 transformations, the invincible K-88 explains his reason for escaping, “For freedom, not wanting to be a mere robot forever.” He even admonishes De Ming for being an electronic slave.

Meanwhile, assassination robots, under order to terminate any defectors, are arriving in the town…

Rare Movie Time!!!! – Young Flying Hero/Return of the Magic Serpent

Young Flying Hero (aka Return of the Magic Serpent) is a Taiwanese fantasy film from 1970 that has some giant monsters stomping around. It was directed by Tong Chim, who only seems to have one other directing credit, The Wolf and the Angel. Hardly anything is known about the film in collector’s circles due to it being so hard to find. Besides posters and lobby cards making everyone salivate, the actual movie has turned out to be surprisingly elusive.
Recently someone has claimed to have gotten a copy and is dubbing it into English for a release, they even threw up a short video:

Although the film is hard to find, it has been known that it isn’t impossible to find, because cast pictures showed up on *Kung Fu Films*

New Muppet Movie hits script – The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time!
According to a script review at AICN, the new muppet movie will be called The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time! and the script is finished. The reviewer gives a pretty positive review (filled with spoilers) but has some complaints. One thing that struck me was the mention of Pepe hardly being in the film, something I look on in suspicion considering his major roles the past few years. He was even in the latest Christmas special with the letters to Santa, so I bet he gets a larger piece by the time they are done. Overall, I love the Muppets and hope this movie is awesome, even though the plot of saving the theater was done by a different TV movie a few years ago. Oh, well, gotta save something!
