Travelers: Jigen Keisatsu (トラベラーズ 次元警察) comes from Japan to fight

Travelers: Jigen Keisatsu (トラベラーズ 次元警察) was released April 13th in Japan, but the sizzle reel from their website is now making rounds in the US. Because it’s very long and filled with all sorts of crazy action and girls in shorts beating each other up.

Ai is a Dimensional Police officer who jumps into “Retro World” to hunt down the criminal organization “Doubt”. There, she faces off against her former partner Yui, who now works for Doubt.

Both the stars and the director have extensive background in tokusatsu series. Nao Nagasawa(長澤 奈央) plays Ai, while Ayumi Kinoshita(木下 あゆ美) is Yui. You can also see Yuko Takayama running around in a gothic-lolita outfit, which is standard uniform for Dimensional Police officers, don’t you know?

Director Koichi Sakamoto is probably best known for his work in choreographing many seasons of Power Rangers. He has directed numerous other films, all either Ultraman or Kamen Rider related.

Travelers: Jigen Keisatsu looks ridiculous enough it should score a US import from someone. But hopefully not years and years later.

"I'm just so tired of all these Star Wars" – You in a few years

Or maybe not, if you are in to this sort of thing! Because we’re getting yearly Star Wars films beginning in 2015! First up will be J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII, followed by alternating spin-offs and trilogy films. I’m sure the internet is filled with a bunch of opinions about this, so feel free to check them out. As for me, I’m on the wait and see plan, which doesn’t fill internet columns with paragraphs of angry bile, but does allow me to get on with my day. I will say that people seem to hate Star Wars, but seem to love their idealized version of Star Wars. It’s all very interesting, but I’m just going to be a spectator than participate in the melee.

Then I can loot the dead! MuHAHAHAHA!!!

We are green on this planet, not blue. Death to blue!

If you were worried The Asylum didn’t have their own after Earth mockbuster, put your fears to rest. AE: Apocalypse Earth stars Adrian Paul and Richard Grieco, and follows the adventures of people who have left a ruined Earth:

A group of refugees from Earth land on an exotic planet, where they must fight ruthless aliens to survive.

May 28th is the release date, Thunder Levin directs and writes (he did the same for American Warships and also wrote the upcoming Sharknado!)

Costa Rican model Bali Rodriguez plays a mysterious woman who is green.

Get Re-Pitchslapped With Pitch Perfect 2 in 2015!

Pitch Perfect

2015?? That’s almost too long to wait! Pitch Perfect was one of the pleasant surprises of 2012, and Universal has confirmed that there will be a sequel. Kay Cannon will return to write the new entry. There is no other information at this time besides a 2015 target release date. If you watched the MTV Movie Awards, it was hosted by Rebel Wilson, who made sure to include a sort of Pitch Perfect reunion song. From the actresses that were in the film that I follow, they all seemed to enjoy making the film lots, so hopefully they are down for another go-round! Anna Kendrick, Anna Camp, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Hana Mae Lee, Ester Dean, Alexis Knapp, and even Kimmy Jin herself, Jinhee Joung, better return!

Did IMDB just screw over smaller movie blogs?

I know, I know….”Again???” you ask? Well, this time your traffic is probably affected, so listen up. Like many bloggers, one of the things I do when I finish a review is add it to the External Reviews section of IMDB. Long ago, this was located on the left side column, but it got moved to the bottom of the page like a year or two ago during one of IMDB’s regular awful redesigns. That layout was awful because not only was the External Reviews link moved below, but most of the other links were as well. So finally, IMDB made a change, and moved all the links to the right column as Quick Links. And this is what it looks like:
IMDB quick links

Notice anything missing? That’s right, the External Reviews! Where are they? Well, you have to click that section marked Explore More. Then scroll down. And down. And down.
IMDB quick links

There it is! Yes, the External Reviews are behind an extra click! And a scroll way down. Combine that with the unfamiliar layout and this spells less visits to your site from IMDB click-throughs. Now, I get maybe 1% of my traffic from IMDB, and that percentage has dropped by 2/3rds at least in the past week since this change has been implemented. I don’t even want to think about what it has done to smaller blogs that get a lot of their traffic via IMDB referrals. Of course, it all makes sense to the IMDB, promoting their own User Reviews over things that will make you leave the site. Too bad 99% of those user reviews are terrible! I can’t even begin to count the number of cool sites I found only due to the External Reviews (and conversely, the number of awful awful movie blogs!), and it is the place I go to find out what people thought of random movie from years ago. I hope this doesn’t discourage people from still posting their own reviews to the IMDB External Review section, because you never now whn they will redesign the site all over again.

Paul Bunyan gives us the axe in Axe Giant!

You know a film about a killer Paul Bunyan will be fun (it better be ::shakes fist at sky::) so here is a cool trailer that proves my knowledge! Axe Giant: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan will be filled to the brim with axe killings and a giant dude in flannel. If looks funtastic from that trailer!

Shockingly, this is not a SyFy original film, but is getting VOD release and possibly a limited theatrical showing! Gary Jones directs, and Joe Estevez, Dan Haggerty, Tom Downey, Tim Lovelace, Jesse Kove, and Chris Hahn star. No word on if the Brawny Guy made it into the final cut.

AXE GIANT: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan – is a dark, contemporary take on the tall tale. Kids at a first-time offenders’ boot camp discover the legend of lumberjack Paul Bunyan is real, but is much more horrifying than they could have imagined. They incur the wrath of the 15-foot monstrous giant, who was banished from town 100 years ago and thought dead.

Maybe we can get a sequel where Pecos Bill takes on Paul Bunyan, then they team up to take down Johnny Appleseed!
