Away and Back Jason Lee Minka Kelly

When geese are away, the swans will play on Away & Back on Hallmark Channel!

Away and Back Jason Lee Minka Kelly

With this new app I can make our photo appear away and back over there… ::Cue title card::

Hallmark Channel is going to drown you in romance movies this Valentine’s Day season, and the only escape is to flee to the theater to go see 50 Shades of Grey, which is a romance movie… Hey! But if you can’t afford the money to go see 50 Shades, the Hallmark movies will have to do. You can always do your own whipping.

On that note, Away & Back is a romance movie that premieres Sunday, January 25:

When a family of swans makes their home on the Peterson farm, it’s love at first sight for 10-year-old daughter Frankie (Maggie Elizabeth Jones). But along comes no-nonsense ornithologist Ginny Newsom (Minka Kelly), who rushes in to “save” the majestic birds. For Frankie’s dad Jack (Jason Lee), it’s dislike at first sight when he encounters pushy, know-it-all Ginny. Frankie and her brothers are anything but neutral observers as they watch the initial hostility between their widowed father and the strong-willed Ginny transform into something else. Could romance be in the air?

Swans and animal conservation? A kid being the focus? Characters taking phone photos in a field? This Hallmark Hall of Fame movies has thrown in everything! Away & Back stars Jason Lee (My Name is Earl) as Jack Peterson, Minka Kelly (Turbo Charged Prelude to 2 Fast 2 Furious) as Ginny Newsom, Maggie Elizabeth Jones (We Bought a Zoo) as Frankie, Jaren Lewison (Barney: A Very Merry Christmas: The Movie) as Kyle, and Connor Paton (iZombie ) as Stretch.

Away & Back is directed by Jeff Bleckner (Beyond the Blackboard, Remember Sunday) with a screenplay by Jonah Lisa Dyer and Stephen Dyer (Hysteria)

A Wish Come True Hallmark

A Wish Come True blows out its candles on Hallmark Channel!

A Wish Come True Hallmark

My wish was to be in the rich people cars in Snowpiercer and it came true! Thanks, Hallmark Channel!

If I know anything, it’s that this youth-obsessed culture of ours seems to think that women over thirty are trash, and if they aren’t married by then, they are extra trash with trashy cherries on top. Hence all that dating advice about never dating a 29-year-old, because she’ll just want to get married. Luckily, as modern women are sticking their middle fingers up to this nonsense and getting married if and when they damn well please, the anxiety of turning thirty is beginning to lose a tiny bit of its power. But it is still very powerful, hence becoming the magic motivator of Hallmark Channel’s latest movie, A Wish Come True!

On the night of her 30th birthday, Lindsay Corwin, an unlucky environmentalist with a string of bad relationships, decides to make the ultimate wish: for all of her birthday wishes to come true. When her nearly three decades of wishes, including everything from losing weight to meeting Mr. Right, start magically coming true all at once, Lindsay is awestruck — until she
realizes the life and the man, she’s always wished for might not be the one she really wants.

I remember on my 30th birthday, I tried wishing in one hand, and crapping in the other. Then the police said I was making “a scene” at the Target. I never wished again…

A Wish Come True features a special appearance by Dean Cain as Dean Cain. Yes, he’s transitioned from playing characters in dozens of low-budget films into playing himself in low-budget films!

In addition to Dean Cain, A Wish Come True stars Megan Park (So Undercover) as Lindsay, Benjamin Hollingsworth (PopFan) as Dave, Anthony Lemke (American Psycho) as Reed, and Aidan Shipley (Frenemies) as Joey. Mark Rosman (the classic Disney Channel flick Life-Size) writes and directs. A Wish Come True was originally titled 30th Birthday.

A Wish Come True premieres Saturday, January 31 on Hallmark Channel. It’s part of their Countdown to Valentine’s Day event, where they play 300 hours of romantic movies including a bunch of new stuff like this.

Adventures in Babysitting Thor Vincent D'Onofrio

More Babysitter Adventures on Disney Channel!

Adventures in Babysitting Thor Vincent D'Onofrio

Does this mean I’ll be in Avengers 3?

Disney is dropping some of the stars of Girl Meets World into their own Disney Channel Original Movies. Now, this is totally standard Disney procedure to showcase their own stars in their own movies. What is interesting is instead of the soft remakes they’ve had for some of their recent films that suspiciously mirrored the plots of more famous films, one of these new original movies is a straight up remake!

Further Adventures in Babysitting is “inspired” by the original Adventures in Babysitting, in that it features almost the exact same plot. Except now there are two competing babysitters, played by Sabrina Carpenter and Sofia Carson, who chase after a missing child through the city. John Schultz directs. No word on if Thor will be a plot point again, though I don’t see why he couldn’t be, because Disney owns Marvel outright. Heck, they might even get Chris Hemsworth to pop up! Or even Vincent D’Onofrio to reprise his role as the guy who looks like Thor. Or maybe even as Kingpin, since that’s who his Marvel character is. Imagine a kid who idolized the Kingpin. Now that’s a kid who would escape from babysitters!

Rowan Blanchard will start in Invisible Sister, based on the book My Invisible Sister by Beatrice Colin and Sara Pinto. Paris Berelc costars. The plot centers on a girl (Blanchard) who accidentally turns her popular big sister invisible, and then hijinks ensue. Invisible hijinks! Paul Hoen directs, and Jessica O’Toole & Amy Rardin and Matt Eddy & Billy Eddy wrote the script.

There are no premiere dates set yet, but I would expect Invisible Sister in late 2015 and Further Adventures in Babysitting in early 2016.

Bridal Wave Hallmark

Bridal Wave rolls into Hallmark Channel!

Bridal Wave Hallmark

You can’t stop the tides, but you can hide behind a coat rack!

Bridal Wave is yet another Hallmark Channel warning about rushing into marriage, because once again a bride-to-be is having doubts and then some random guy pops out of nowhere to disrupt everything! The lesson is, don’t get married unless you 100% know you want to get married and stay married. That concept may seem simple, but there sure are a lot of people who don’t bother to follow it, and a lot of people who easily change their minds once they are married.

Romance movies like this are all about wondering if the woman/guy will drop their zero and get with the hero, so expect 90 minutes of Georgie waffling back and forth on if she wants to stick with the lame-o or run off with the guy she just met at an island resort. Since the synopsis shows the mom-in-law is a classist jerk, I’m already cheering for her to live with the unemployed guy who lives on the island. Maybe that ends up being better than it sounds? We’ll have to watch Bridal Wave to be sure, but if it doesn’t feature the bride on a surf board in her bridal dress (preferably while running away from her wedding), it will disappoint.

As her wedding day draws near, Georgie Dwyer (Arielle Kebbel) has doubts surrounding her plans to marry Dr. Phillip Hamilton (David Haydn-Jones), a dashing and prominent plastic surgeon. Though Phillip qualifies as the “perfect” fiancé, Georgie feels a romantic spark is missing in their relationship. Tensions rise even further when Phillip’s sophisticated mother, Felice (Jaclyn Smith), blatantly frowns upon Georgie’s working class origins. On the picturesque island, Georgie keeps finding herself in chance encounters with Luke Griggs (Andrew W. Walker), a handsome ex-architect, who walked away from a high-end architectural firm to enjoy a simple, no-frills life. When an undeniable chemistry develops between Georgie and Luke, Georgie must decide if she’s going to move ahead with her rapidly approaching marriage to Phillip.

Bridal Wave stars Arielle Kebbel (90210) as Georgie, Andrew Walker (Wedding Planner Mystery) as Luke, David Haydn-Jones (A Cookie Cutter Christmas) as Phillip, Colleen Wheeler (Better Than Chocolate) as Emma, Anna Van Hooft (Flash Gordon) as Melissa, Daryl Shuttleworth (Amber Alert: Terror on the Highway) as Judd, and Jaclyn Smith (Charlie’s Angels) as Felice.

Bridal Wave is directed by Michael M. Scott (Along Came a Nanny) and written by Hallmark Channel regulars and husband and wife team Neal and Tippi Dobrofsky (A Royal Christmas and Surprised by Love)

Bridal Wave premieres Saturday, January 17th on Hallmark Channel!

With this Ring Lifetime

With This Ring is Lifetime’s latest big hype relationship movie!

With this Ring Lifetime

Wait, we have to share one ring between the three of us???

Get married or else with Lifetime’s With This Ring! It’s based on the book The Vow by Denene Millner.

With This Ring looks like a fun movie about sisterhood and dealing with a pack of men with problems and must maneuver around those obstacles, or just dump the guys entirely for some new blood. But the clock is ticking on their commitment to marry within a year, so soon anything will go!

Should you get married in a year even if it isn’t the right decision, based solely on peer pressure? I hope that’s addressed. Either way, this looks like it will be a fun watch, so I’m looking forward to DVRing it and maybe even getting to it within a reasonable amount of time!

With This Ring stars a whole pack of awesome people: Regina Hall (Scary Movie 1-4), Jill Scott (Why Did I Get Married? 1 and 2), Eve Jeffers Cooper (Barbershop 1 and 2), Brooklyn Sudano, Deion Sanders (football and baseball), Stephen Bishop, Jason George, and Brian White

With This Ring is written and directed by accomplished music video director Nzingha Stewart, this is her first nondocumentary feature.

Regina Hall (“Think Like a Man Too”) and Grammy® Award winners Jill Scott (“Get On Up,” “Steel Magnolias”) and Eve Jeffers Cooper (“Whip It,” “Barbershop”) star as three single friends who vow to get married within a year after attending their best friend’s wedding in the Lifetime Original Movie “With This Ring” (#WithThisRing). The romantic comedy based on the best seller “The Vow” by Denene Millner, Angela Burt-Murray and Mitzi Miller also stars Brooklyn Sudano (“My Wife and Kids”), NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders (“Deion’s Family Playbook”), Stephen Bishop (“Being Mary Jane”), Jason George (“Grey’s Anatomy”) and Brian White (“The Night Before”).

After attending their friend Elise’s (Sudano) wedding to Nate (Bishop) on New Year’s Eve, Trista (Hall), a career-driven talent agent, Viviane (Scott), a successful gossip columnist, and Amaya (Cooper), a struggling actress, make a pact to get married within the year to either a new love or a man waiting in the wings. But the close friends face their own set of challenges – Trista has not gotten over her commitment-phobic ex-boyfriend Damon (White), Viviane is secretly in love with Sean (George), the father of her son, and Amaya is desperate to break up her boyfriend Keith’s (Sanders) unhappy marriage so they can live happily ever after. Each woman starts the year with high hopes and dreams of what will happen over the next 12 months…but will they all make it to the altar?

Written and directed by Nzingha Stewart (“Pretty Little Liars,” “The Fosters”), “With This Ring” is produced by Sony Pictures Television. Executive producers are Tracey E. Edmonds (“Jumping the Broom”) through her Edmonds Entertainment Group, Gabrielle Union (“Top Five,” “Being Mary Jane”) in her first producing role and Sheila Ducksworth (“Why We Laugh: Funny Women,” “Soul Food”). Casting is by Tracy “Twinkie” Byrd (“Fruitvale Station”).

With This Ring premieres January 24th on Lifetime!
