Godzilla – Monsters and Lawsuits
Godzilla is a hell of a monster, and the American remake will be fighting several monsters himself! In addition, Legendary Pictures and some of the producers are becoming monsters as they start dropping lawsuits on each other. It’s a classic Hollywood clusterfrak that hopefully won’t derail Gareth Edwards’s flick too much.First the good news. Tim Kelly at CHUD has confirmed the following through a webinar from Warner Bros. promotion department:
**The film will feature more than one monster, confirming that two new monsters will also be wreaking havoc – this in addition to the big guy.
**Warner Bros. made it clear that their interpretation of the material “follows the story of a solider” and is “way different” than the Toho Godzilla films.
Two brand new monsters is awesome. Also it’s good if they stay away from the mechs for at least one movie so they don’t look too much like Pacific Rim. Frank Darabont is currently rewriting the script, but like Tim Kelly said, the information above is being presented by the studio, so it will likely end up in the final draft of the film when it begins filming later this year. As far as I know, the release date is still set for May 16, 2014.
However, THR is reporting Legendary is suing to dump Dan Lin, Roy Lee and Doug Davison from their producers credits, claiming they aren’t doing enough to qualify as being credited. As you can imagine, the trio are not happy about the loss of credit and the loss of a big payday, and are threatening to countersue and get a restraining order to halt production until the mess is sorted out.

New Pacific Rim Trailer!!!
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

The Asylum gives us an Atlantic Rim to go with Pacific Rim
But when will we get an Indian Rim?Notice how hard I’m trying to not do “rim job” jokes in these posts. So mockbuster masters the Asylum have announced their Pacific Rim mockbuster, and it’s Atlantic Rim. The plot seems pretty similar, just a bit lower in scope:
When giant monsters crawl out of the Atlantic Ocean and attack the Eastern Seaboard, the US Government is forced to trust A.I. robots to defend the country.
Asylum’s flicks have been getting progressively better, and hopefully Atlantic Rim will be a cheesetastic good time where giant robots fight giant monsters. Maybe one of the giant robots can transform into Titanic 2 or something.

Pacific Rim gets a synopsis
Is there a monster movie I’m waiting for more than Pacific Rim? I don’t think so! Even the new Godzilla film must take a back seat to this giant monsters vs giant robot action! Hopefully del Toro is enough to make up for the writer giving us films like Clash of the Titans. From el Toro’s other films, there is no way this won’t look spectacular.Synopsis
From acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro comes Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ epic sci-fi action adventure Pacific Rim.

Footage of Pacific Rim’s wrecked Japan!
The mysterious giant monster film Pacific Rim has managed to stay relatively leak free, but somehow there is a giant news story about how they turned part of Toronto into a wrecked Japan! Guillermo del Toro directs and Idris Elba stars, but that’s about all we know. The rumor mill mentions giant monsters and maybe giant robots designed to fight the monsters, but that could just be fake information made up by people looking to make things up. In any event, enjoy some shots of fake destruction, because that’s better than real destruction any day!
